About me

I’m a writer and researcher based in New York. I’ve published long-form essays and reviews on topics ranging from cultural and literary criticism to international politics, human rights, emerging technologies, and more. I’m currently a fellow at New Lines Magazine, where I write and edit stories on politics and culture in East Asia.

I’ve also worked in international affairs at a variety of think tanks and advocacy groups. I publish and speak regularly on international politics in Asia, and I continue to do policy work on US-China relations, among other issues.

In my academic life, I’m a PhD candidate in the Department of Comparative Literature at New York University, where my research focuses on modern Chinese literature and intellectual history. My dissertation is about the ways in which writers and artists in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan made sense of an increasingly hostile and dangerous global geopolitical environment from the late 1990s to the present.

I previously studied at Williams College and the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
